Hapinesss, how'd you get to be hapiness?

"Hapiness, how'd you get to be hapiness? How'd ya get to find real love?" sang the sweet and powerful voice of the lovely Alison Goldfrapp. And the question couldn't be any more in force.

Last Friday I found myself at a book store holding a book that without any aims to preach about life, stated in a rather casual way, the greatness of those small things that make our daily routine way more beareable. Right next to this book, in the same shelf,  I found a small and bright-coloured book... a diary actually. Such a clever format! it is a "one phrase diary"that is intended to summarize the events of a five year span. No time to write a proper diary? Skeptical that there is much going on in your life?... Well, one phrase a day can't be that difficult, nor intimidating. Call me optimist, but the first thing I thought is that for sure there will be many days in which a phrase won't be enough to summarize the happenings, or my reactions to them.

The latest phrase or idea, appearing in many shapes and forms, is that life makes sense when you look back at it, but it is still supposed to be lived going forwards. And I immediately think of that spiral called life, as well as the opening and closing cycles, you know, the chapters of our own novel, if we may call it like that.
From this point of view, it seems to me that leaving a written trail of your own experiences- even if it is just a phrase a day- will for sure result in a fluid synthesis, and eventual learning process.

From me to myself, the best advise I have is, once you realize that a cycle is coming to an end -when you feel the excitement  or nervousness of change, or when you are just praying for it to finally come!- make sure you don't leave any loose threads. Just like you wouldn't eat yesterday's rotten leftovers as a side dish of today's tasty main course, it is not healthy to hoard previous feelings, grudges or apprehensions generated by acts that started and ended in the past.
Ah! the joy of a white page!
Enjoy,
