My grandfather use to walk to a plaza near his house, choose a random bench, sit down comfortably and spend hours watching people´s behaviors. He will always come back with a bunch of anecdotes and his funny reactions to what other people would do caught in the spontaneity of their own supposed anonymity.
He was such a great guy, and the least I could learn from him was that inclination to observe and analyze human behavior. As humans, we are an infinite source of ideas, reactions, and feelings. My dear grandfather, indeed, choose a great and ever entertaining subject of study.
I spent my day at a busy and so called "high end" mall... So many subjects almost asking to be researched!
The 6 year-old girl claiming that "Malls are a girls best friend! You know how I know?... well I know because I´m a girl!". The shy and very good looking guy at the shoe store, that lady on the cellphone using all of her tricks to keep the guy on the other end of the line interested in the conversations, the "boyfriends" and "hubbies" gathered at the few sitting areas waiting for their ladies to come back with their shopping, the noisy thai-noodle-eater at the food court, and so on.
A well-mannered man recently told me that I am one of those persons that stares too much at people, but the truth is, that it is an understatement. I´m not only staring at them, I observe them, I analyze them and I even learn from them... but mostly, I learn from myself.
