Thanks to my dad´s culinary curiosity, through this second half of year, I´ve found myself cooking - or at least contributing!- more often than before.
Some years ago I took a beginners cooking class, which planted that seed of curiosity in me as well, but that hadn´t fully developed until now, living in a foreign country and often craving food or -somehow- healthy snacks that I use to have in Mexico.
I love shorbread cookies, though I must say they are not the most "mexican" of my cravings, either one of the things that I would eat frequently back then, but they do remind me of special occasions, which partly explains why I believe shortbread cookies are to be baked in good quantities, and then of course, shared!
It is so nice to see how everyone reacts to an unexpected offer of cookies, specially if they come in cute shapes and are decorated with frostings or candies.
After all we are still human, and showing up to work or to a get together with some shortbread cookies, or other homemade treat, it´s a great reminder of the high value of the small things.
